Larry's Story
Life
Spent 20 enjoyable years in the USAF as an aircraft mechanic, air traffic controller, and finished as a management/manpower engineer doing logistics simulations.
Worked since 1984 as a test engineer in Electronic Warfare, testing radar warning receivers, jammers, and countermeasures dispensers. Spent most of my career supporting hardware-in-the-loop testing in a sensors lab and range testing at a variety of outdoor electronic combat range locations. I wrote test plans, collected, reduced, and analyzed Electronic Warfare test data for lab and field tests. Finally retired in August 2015 with the immediate goal of more golf, more fishing, and more motorcycle riding.
I used to flight instruct and provide pilot services in the local area but have just about quit slipping the bonds of earth.
Married for 57 years to my motorcycle riding, fishing, hunting, and softball playing wife from Texas.
We usually go on vacation "to kill something"; fishing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, hunting for deer in northern New York, or motorcycle trips smashing bugs.
For the last few years I've been playing softball on ...Expand for more
the Dayton Legends softball team (this year the AA 70+ team) - we play 6 tournaments a year in the midwest. In 2012 we won Independant Softball Association World Championship in Columbus, Indiana. In 2014 we won the Great Lakes National Championship and the Heart of Ohio National Championship. We also came in second in the World Championships in Dalton, GA. My wife (she is only one of 5 women in the men's league) and I also play softball in a Senior Softball League (60 years old and up). And to make sure we stay busy, we both play in golf leagues during the week, plus the recreational game on the weekend. Can't wait until I retire so I can do more of that relaxing stuff.
Retired 28 August 2015.. ..no more work, no more flying, and no more softball (at least for now). Since I retired we play golf almost every day throughout the season here in Ohio. And as long as the temperature is in the 40's or above. In the winter we travel to somewhere south or to Nevada/Arizona to golf. And since we are retired we expanded our 1 week fishing/golf trip to Kipling, Michigan to 2 weeks in June and 2 weeks in September.
